Starring Russel Crowe and Cate Blanchett, this blockbuster produced by Universal Studios based on Brian Helgeland script (“L.A. Confidential”, “Mystic River”, “Man on Fire”) gives an epic rendition to opening of Robin Hood legend.

We discover how Robin, a faithful King Richard bowman, transforms into the leader of a of a mercenaries band fighting Nottingham Sherif.

Russel Crowe undertakes the role already played by Errol Flynn, Sean Connery or Kevin Kostner, and Cate Blanchett plays Marianne.

Mark Strong, William Hurt, Vanessa Redgrave, Léa Seydoux and Max Von Sydow complete the casting.

Ridley Scott has already had the honour to open the Festival in 1991 with « Thelma and Louise », also out of the Competition.
